I would like to know what this is and what it is/was used for?

Item History: None.

Size: It is 24-1/2" in length, it's widest diameter is 10", it's smallest diameter is 2-3/4"

Markings: On one side there is an 8 and an 88, on the other side there is a 6 and a 10.
