this is a Gravely tractor hitch. it is used on Gravely 2 wheel walk behind model L tractors from around 1939 to the early 80s.it mounts to the bottom rear of the tractor at the engine crankcase. A hitch ball is mounted to it and the tractor can pull a riders sulky, roller, cart as well as other accessorys. there are many for sale on the internet as well as at tractor shows. google or ebay, "gravely L hitch"
