It's an AFTERMARKET, not OEM, MOTORCYCLE REAR SHOCK, one of a pair. Around 1977, off-road (dirt) motorcycles began to change from twin-shock rear suspension to SINGLE-SHOCK, which were larger but shorter, 10 to 12 inches. Made by Works Performance in Canoga Park, CA. for a off-road motorcycle 250-500cc 1975 to 1983. Made for a twin-shock bike, so it's one of a pair.
